About the School

The Birla School of Social Sciences and Humanities (BSS&H) is dedicated to provide cutting-edge education in the area of social sciences and humanities. The school focuses on skill development with a blend of theory and practice to prepare students for professional career and social participation.     Admission Brochure can be downloaded from our website or it can be obtained from BGU Campus.

  • Q2. What is the process of admission to the program?
    Eligible candidate needs to fill online form with the prescribed fee. The admission department will inform about next steps.

  • Q3. Can a student apply for admission if the results for qualifying examination are awaited?
    Yes, Students appearing in the qualifying examination can apply. However, their admission shall be provisional and subject to confirmation upon obtaining qualifying marks.

  • Q4. What is the deadline for admission?
    The last date for submitting completed application form is given in Admission Brochure and on university website.

  • Q5. What are the different payment options available for taking the admission?
    Demand Draft, Cheque, Credit Card and online payment facilities are available.

  • Q6. Does BGU arrange educational loan?
    The courses are credible and popular. Educational loans are provided by all nationalized banks. Students have to approach the Bank of their choice.

  • Q7. Is there any scholarship/ fee waiver/ free-ship for the meritorious students?
    Yes, according to the University norms.

  • Q8. What is minimum attendance requirement to appear in semester examinations?
    Minimum attendance requirement to appear in the end-term examination in each semester is 75%.

  • Q9. Do I get practical experience while studying?
    Yes. Faculty members assign different live projects and discuss relevant cases to connect theory to practice. Students are also guided to visit industries and locations for practical exposure.

  • Q10. Are students required to write dissertation during the course?
    Yes. Dissertation is a requirement of the degree as per the course curriculum

  • Q11. Are sufficient books/journals are available in the library?
    Yes. The central library is empowered with text books, reference books and journals of national and international repute. Online databases of national and international Journals and cases including SCC Online, ProQuest etc can be accessed in the digital library.

  • Q12. What are the library timings?
    Library timings are from 9:00am – 9:00pm.

  • Q13. Is the campus WIFI enabled?
    Yes. The campus is Wi-fi enabled and is equipped with latest computing facilities. All computers are connected to the internet with a bandwidth of 110 Mbps.

  • Q14. Is course material provided by the University or the books are included in the fee structure?
    No. Facilities of digital-library and law library are available. The relevant readings and cases may be provided by the concerned teacher online.

  • Q15. What is the mode of transport to and from the University?
    The University provides transport facilities between the campus and Bhubaneswar city during fixed days/timings.

  • Q16. Which is the nearest railway station from the campus?
    Bhubaneswar Railway Station is 13.5 kms away from the campus.

  • Q.17 Is there any canteen facility available in the campus?
    Yes.

  • Q18. What is the anti-ragging policy in Birla Global University?
    Birla Global University has a well-defined anti-ragging policy for all its. University has constituted University level Anti Ragging Committee and Anti Ragging Squads to check the menace of ragging in the campus in conformity with the guidelines issued by the UGC.

  • Q19. What the specializations are offered?
    In UG students are offered with Business Economics courses and Socio-political economics and in PG students are offered with Financial Econometrics, Environmental Economics, Agricultural Economics and Health Economics. For details please go through the program structure.

  • Q20. Whether the school provides UGC-NET coaching?
    According to the need of the students special classes are conducted by the faculty members to prepare students for UGC-NET and other related competitive examination.

Placement

Master degree students are provided with necessary training for personality development and preparation to appear different recruitment process. Though the school doesn’t guarantee any job placement, students are assisted by the central placement cell i.e Center for Corporate Relation (CCR) to explore job opportunities and get placed.
