Brief Profile

Dr B.K.DAS. Advisor & Registrar of the BIRLA GLOBAL UNIVERSITY, is a Ph.D. in Economics and a LL.B. and Diploma in Business Management. He is also a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers. Dr Das is also a member of the Board of Governors of the University. Also as Professor of Banking and Financial Services teaches the MBA and BBA students .Dr Das represented BIMTECH in the International Banking Conference twice in succession and was instrumental in introducing Banking papers in the PGDM/MBA course in BIMTECH, Greater Noida and BGU Bhubaneswar.

Dr Das joined BIMTECH Gr Noida in 2009.Prior to that he was General Manager of a leading Public Sector Bank for more than 6 years looking after General Administration, HR, Vigilance, Corporate Governance, Credit, Business Development, Strategic Planning, Policy Formulations, Resolution/Recovery of Distressed Assets, etc. that involves all gamut of Banking. Drafted the Vigilance Manual of the Bank in close coordination with CVC. Worked as GM New Delhi for more than 4 years looking after the States of Delhi, UP, Uttaranchal, Jammu &Kashmir and a part of Haryana. As GM Operation, was in charge of States of Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and a part of Maharashtra. Dr Das also worked with Prof Yunus ,the Nobel laurate, in Bangladesh Gramin Bank under a UNDP project.

Was associated with various decision making process at the Board Level and various Committees of the Board. Was a member of the corporate level committees like Asset Liability Management Committee, Risk Management Committee, New Business Committee, Top Management Committee, Vigilance Advisory Committee, etc. Was a Director in the Board of West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation. He was also associated with Industrial Finance Corporation of India (IFCI).He was the Chairman of State Level Export Promotion Committee for Odisha and Himachal for 2 years. Was a member of the High Powered Committee constituted by the Govt of India for Banking plan for the State of Jammu and Kashmir.

Was appointed by the Govt. of India as Chairman of Regional Rural Bank for 3 years and also Headed the District Industries Centre of the Govt. of Odisha for 2 years planning and implementing various Central and State programs like Entrepreneur Dev Programs ,Integrated Rural Development Program, Prime Minister Rojgar Yojana and promotion of MSME. Dr Das presented a paper ‘’Public Sector Banks-Business vrs Vigilance’’ in National Conference on SME and a paper on Financial Inclusion in the Foundation Day Lecture series by the Dept of Applied and Analytical Economics, Utkal University.

Worked as Chairman of the Recruitment Board for recruitment of Probationary Officers in the Public Sector Banks in Orissa for three years. Dr Das has been instrumental in setting up the Birla Global University, Bhubaneswar so that the students are exposed to high quality education. He was directly involved from allotment of land, project implementation, statutory clearance etc to make the campus fully operational in a record time. The University, within a span of 3 years, is having a student strength of 1000, and having schools of Management, Law, Communication, Commerce and Economics. It is proposed to open Medical, Nursing and Engineering for which the Govt. has assured to provide additional land.

  Worked in a leading Indian Public Sector Bank for 36 years including 3 years on Govt. of India and 2 years on State Govt. assignments. Posted as Chairman of a Regional Rural Bank having more than 150 branches. Worked as Head of thr District Industry Dept. implementing the Govt. Industrial Policy which included development of MSME sector. As General Manager (Operations) of the Bank looked after the States of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Orissa, Gujarat for 2 years. Worked as General Manager (Delhi) for 4 years looking after the States of Delhi, NCR, J&K, U.P., Haryana and Uttarakhand.

• Achievements and Awards

  Visited Bangladesh under UNDP sponsorship to study Bangladesh Grameen Bank under the guidance of Prof Younus, the nobel laurate. Attended various programmes / seminars / workshops representing the Bank in organisations like:
