Students get the intimation about placement opportunities from the institute’s Centre for Corporate Relations (CCR) through postings in their group as well as through postings on the notice board for placement news. Interested students can convey their choice either through mail or by signing in the relevant sheet with CCR within the specified time limit. As the recruiter confirms the date of interview process, it is communicated to students who are also advised on the documents required by the recruiter like CV, Summer Internship Project Report etc. The interview process is mostly conducted it he camps but in select cases students visit the recruiter’s premises for the process. While students can appear for multiple interviews, they are bound to accept the first offer made to them. The placement process, which is a rolling one, commences in the month of November each year. Recruited students can join their employers after their final examinations which are concluded in the month of March.
One of the major objectives of Summer Internship Projects is to enable students to transfer their knowledge gained in classrooms to the workplace as well as to familiarize students with the complexities of the corporate world first hand. The process for pursuing summer internship which is to be undertaken at the end of the first year is more or less identical to the final placement process. Apart from availing of the opportunities to do internship in companies through the campus process, students also have the freedom to choose companies on their own. CCR will ensure that every student will have a Summer Internship opportunity in his/her chosen stream of specialization. The process usually begins in mid – October each year. The prescribed Summer Internship period is six to eight weeks from mid – April to mid – June every year. Special workshops are conducted in February each year, where instructional material is also handed out. Students can choose any of the BGU faculty as their academic mentor. The Summer Internship Project Report is of 6 credits. An excellent summer project report would be a passport to a dream job.
The objective of short term project which is to be undertaken by all students for a period of 10-15 days is to give an opportunity to students to have a feel of the real problems/issues in industry and how to tackle them. A good Short Term Project can also be a useful tool for placement. Students are expected to complete 2/3 Short Term Projects in their IInd/IIIrd/IVth trimesters. A BGU professor would be the academic guide for the Short Term Project, for which prior permission should be taken by the student from the programme coordinator/chairperson of the programme. Appropriate credits are assigned to the sort term projects.
Recruiters always look for industry-ready candidates. One way to ensure this will be to offer industry relevant training to students while they are pursuing their academic programmes. BGU campus connect programme offers an ideal platform to companies. HDFC Bank, Tata-AIG etc. are some of the companies which have offered campus connect programmes to BGU students. Few other companies have also proposed to conduct the programmes, which is under our consideration. Usually, companies conduct an eligibility test to select students for their campus connect programme. Successful students are then offered the training programme.
This event takes place during the Summer Internship process. The internship tenure offers an ideal opportunity for the company to evaluate the caliber and suitability of the student for placement. If the company is convinced about the value addition that the student brings to the company, it may offer a Pre-Placement Offer (PPO) of employment to the student after the completion of the course. Alternately, the company may make a special note to earmark high performing students when they eventually come to the campus for placement. Many BGU students have benefited under both of the above approaches by companies.
Candidate should have good academic record with minimum 50% marks (or equivalent CGPA) in his/her Graduation (10+2+3 system) from a recognized university. Candidates appearing for their final year graduation examination are also eligible to apply, however they must submit their mark sheet immediately on the receipt of the same.
B.E. / B. Tech / BCA
The applicant to the programme is selected on the basis of BGU Selection process based on past academic performance in 10th, 12th, and graduation; CAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT/MAT score; GDPI or Comprehensive PI; written ability test (WAT). Suitable weightages for Work Experience, Academic & Regional Background, and Professional Qualification etc. are also given.
NOTE: Applying for the MBA admission does not ensure that candidate will be called for PI process or get admission. The discretion of the admission committee of the institute will be final in all such matters.
