This Regulation, hereinafter, shall be called the Regulation for Doctor of Philosophy in Management/Humanities & Social Sciences/ Commerce/ Communication under Birla Global University, Bhubaneswar 2017.This Regulation in letter & spirit, is in conformity with the University Grants Commission Regulations, 2016 i.e., Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree notified by the Ministry of Human Resources Development on 5th May 2016.
ELIGIBILITY:
Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. program shall have a Master’s degree or a Professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed)or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.
RELAXATION TO (a) ABOVE
A relaxation of 5% marks, from 55% to 50% or an equivalent relaxation of Grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy layer) /Differently- abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the UGC from time to time or for those candidates who had obtained their Master Degree prior to 19th September 1991.The relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including grace mark procedure.
MINIMUM DURATION- The minimum duration of the course shall be a period of THREE YEARS including Course Work.
MAXIMUM DURATION (SPAN PERIOD) – The maximum duration or the Span period of the program shall be a period of SIX YEARS.
RELAXATION FOR OTHER CATEGORY – The University will adhere to State-level reservation policy, as applicable.
PROCESS OF ADMISSION – The University will adhere to State-level reservation policy, as applicable.
INTAKE NOTIFICATION: The University shall notify well in advance the number of scholars to be admitted in to a Subject depending on the availability of Research Supervisors and other academic and physical facilities keeping in mind the norms regarding the scholar-teacher ratio as mentioned at para-4.5.
ADVERTISMENT: The advertisement for admission to the above program shall be made available in the University Website and through advertisement in at least two (2) national newspapers, of which at least one(1) shall be in the regional language, the number of seats for admission subject/discipline-wise distribution of available seats, criteria for admission, procedure for admission, examination center(s) where entrance test(s) shall be conducted and all other relevant information for the benefit of the candidates;
RESERVATION POLICY: The University will adhere to State-level reservation policy, as applicable.
PROCESS OF ADMISSION: All candidates desiring of pursuing Ph.D. in Commerce under this University will have to qualify in UGC-NET (including JRF)/SLET or awarded a Teacher fellowship by the university or any other recognised research institution. An entrance examination followed by an interview/viva-voce is to be organized by the University where the candidates are required to discuss their research interest/area through a presentation before a duly constituted Subject Research Committee. Final list of candidates selected for admission into the Ph.D. program shall be prepared by the Board. iii) The interview/viva voce shall consider the following aspects, viz. whether:

i) For Scholars from India | Rs.60000 per semester |
ii) For Scholars from foreign countries | Rs.500000 equivalent foreign currency for three years including the year of course work |
4. Fee for Ph.D. Program beyond three years | |
i) For Scholars from India | Rs.60000 per semester for extension of Ph.D. work for a semester/s or part thereof. |
ii) For Scholars from foreign countries | Proportionate fees in the Ratio of (500000/6) for extension of Ph.D. work for a semester or part thereof. |
