Bhubaneswar: Birla School of Management, Birla Global University, Bhubaneswar successfully conducted an International Conference on “Global Digital Economy - Management Challenges and Opportunity" on 15-16 April 2021 in collaboration with Ljubljana University, Slovenia in virtual mode. 41 speakers of international repute and more than 250 delegates from 16 countries like USA, Canada, UK, China, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Norway, Croatia, Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Finland, Nepal, and India attended the conference and presented their research papers in six different technical sessions of this two- day event.
The world-renowned marketing management guru and former Dean of Kellogg School of Management, USA and INSEAD, France and currently the President(European), China Europe International Business School, China, Prof. Dipak C. Jain inaugurated the conference and delivered the inaugural address. He emphasized on humanizing the business by recognizing people as the source of differentiation and value creation. He advised the delegates to keep ‘eyes on the horizon and feet on the ground”. Prof. David Ellerman, Co-Founder & President, Institute for Economic Democracy, Ljubljana & Visiting Scholar, University of California, USA and Prof. Morten Huse, Professor Emeritus, Norwegian Business School, Norway delivered the keynote addresses. Distinguished dignitaries like Prof. H. Chaturvedi, Prof. R.K Mishra, and Prof. Monika Kalin Golob also addressed the audience in the inaugural session. The Vice Chancellor of BGU, Prof. P.P. Mathur delivered the welcome address and the conference chair, Prof. Parameswar Nayak, Dean, Birla School of Management offered vote of thanks.
In six highly engaging technical sessions, a number of research papers were presented and high level intellectual deliberations were made on gig-economy, new age technology, hybrid work environment, transiting from industry 4.0.to industry 5.0, entrepreneurship and marketing in digital economy. Eminent professors and industry leaders like Prof. S.K. Acharya, Dr. Rado Bohinc, Dr.A.K. Rath, Dr. A. Sahay, Dr. P Nayak and Dr. Karthik Dave chaired the technical sessions. The conference could highlight the rapid digital transformation that has created momentum for all-round social development and digital economy globally. It was deliberated that the digital economy is pushing cutting-edge innovation that allows for a real-time return on investment measurement and further digitization offers both opportunities and challenges for business houses and institutions.
